Art & History Tours

Honouring Canadians

This pilgrimage visits some of the most important sites in Northern France and Belgium where young Canadians fought and died as part of the Allied contingent. Start at the Vimy Ridge Memorial with a tour of the tunnels. In Belgium’s Ypres Salient, the Menen Gate and a memorable visit to the In Flanders Fields Museum await.  Canadian Cemeteries dot the countryside. The Brooding Soldier at St Julien and Passchendaele Museum lay testament to the thousands who joined the war effort.  The Atlantic wall was a German stronghold in both wars as they surveyed the skies for Allied Air attacks. WW II sites are etched into Canadian history for all time; Dieppe, Juno Beach, Arromanches. Join us in honour of all Canadians who gave their lives in these two Great Wars.  Download or view sample itinerary PFD.

Along the French Impressionist Path

VM Travel offers this tour every year in the spring to take advantage of the flowers in Monet’s gardens and the brilliant red poppies in the provençale countryside.

This tour is suited to the artist, photographer or anyone curious about the French Impressionist movement. Special visits include: Renoir’s newly renovated studio in Les Collettes; Cezanne's studio in Aix-en-Provence, his painting smock still hanging where he left it; Van Gogh’s hospices in Arles and St Remy de Provence where he created over 300 works of art in 18 months including his Irises and Sunflowers.

Enjoy a leisurely walk through Monet’s Gardens in Giverny to catch a glimpse of the Japanese bridge that spans his lily pond. Our time in Paris focuses on the Orangerie which houses Monet’s giant water lilies and the wonderful Museé d`Orsay saved from demolition in 1970 only to share its exquisite light with the grand collection of Impressionist Art!

"We’ve been home for a weekend and I am still dreaming of France, literally. Every time I lay my head down I am on the other side of the world with a group of women tossed together like a fine salad. All these dreams and hoq long they are lasting after arriving home is truly indicative of the strong friendships and the “impression” you have all had on me." Dawn McKenzie, Zealandia, SK
